Cada vez que veo imágenes como esta, me siento tan, tan pequeñita y asombrada, ¿cómo puede haber cosas tan asombrosas?.
La foto corresponde a una estrella llamada EV Lacertae, que es más jóven y más pequeña que nuestro Sol. Nuestro Sol, también tiene llamaradas como las que se muestran en esta foto, solo que no son tan poderosas como las de esta estrella pequeña, porque nuestro Sol es un poco más viejo y gira más lento que EV Lancerte, por lo que genera un campo magnetico de menor intensidad, dando como resultado llamaradas más pequeñas.
Esta foto fue tomada el 25 de abril de este año (2008), por el satélite Swift de la NASA.

On April 25, 2008, NASA's Swift satellite picked up a record-setting flare from a star known as EV Lacertae. This flare was thousands of times more powerful than the greatest observed solar flare.
What makes the flare particularly interesting is the star. EV Lacertae is much smaller and dimmer than our sun. The star is much younger than our sun, and is still spinning rapidly. The fast spin, together with its churning interior, whips up gases to produce a magnetic field that is much more powerful than the sun's magnetic field.
