Raclette, Fondue and Crêpes

Thanks to very nice people here, I have had the oportunity to try Raclette, Fondue and Crêpes, these dishes are the most traditional here, in the french side of Suitzerland, and I have to say that they are very tasty. Mme Cariage is a very nice lady with whom I am living, and as I did not know the Raclette and Fondue, she arrange everything to let me know them, although these dishes are for winter.

(Gracias a que hay gente super linda aquí, he tenido la oportunidad de probar la Raclette, el Fondue y las Crepas, estos platillos son los más tradicionales de la parte francesa de Suiza, y tengo que decir que estuvieron buenísimos. Mme Carige es una señora super linda con la que estoy viviendo, como no había probado la Raclette ni el Fondue, preparó todo para que los probara, a pesar de que estos se acostumbran en invierno.)

Fondue is chesse mixed with licor and spices, and is kept in a liquid state so that diners can dip bread into the sauce. If the bread (or fruit for the chocolate's fondue) is lost in the cheese, it is tradition for that person to buy a round of drinks or to be punished in another way.

(El Fondue es queso mezclado con licor y especias, derretido de tal forma que se pueda mojar pan en el. Si el pan (o la fruta para el fondue de chocolate) se queda en el recipiente, es tradición que la persona que lo haya perdido pague una ronda a los demás o se le castigue de otra forma.)




Raclette is essentially melted cheese, served over boiled potatoes (optionally, with lots of ground black pepper), accompanied by ham, small pickled onions and gherkins.

La Raclette es esencialemnte queso derretido, y se sirve con papas hervidas (opcionalmente con mucha pimienta), acompañada de jamón, cebollitas o pepinillos.





And Crêpes, everybody knows them, and in one of the dinners, that Sabine kindly have invited us, she made crêpes:




I can not finish this post without mention that, although the rule of the fondue is well know, there are people that set the punishment and do not pay, haha, isn't it? ... CACM

It was the time to visit Florence, as many people said to us, it is beautiful.

Isabel and the Ponte Vecchio,

The Ponte Vecchio is unique due the multitude of shops built upon its edges, held up by stilts. This bridge is the only one in the city to have survived World War II intact.

Il Duomo de Santa Maria del Fiore is the cathedral of Florence, it is known because of the magnificent dome built by Filippo Brunelleschi.

El mismo fin de semana que fuimos a Torino, nuestro destino final fué Mónaco y ahí me enteré que había un Casino llamado Monte Carlo, si como el métdo que se usa para simulaciones que tantos dolores de cabeza me ha dado, jajaja, que horror, jaja.



¡¡Que cantidad de lujo!! Una calle con unos super yates y autos como estos esperando, ¡imposible de considerar!








¿Qué tal me quedó esta foto? ¡¡super!! La vista realmente era super linda, azul... hasta el infinito y más allá, jajajaja.

¿¿Y esta señal?? Lamento confesar que mi conocimiento es muy limitado, definitivamente no entiendo bien cual es la funcionalidad de una señal que esta al derecho y al revés, si alguien puede sacarme de esa duda se lo agradecería infinitamente, ¿¿tendrá que ver con algo que forma la imagen después del foco y lo invierte??

StePhEn HaWkInG At CeRn

Professor Stephen Hawking gave a thechnical seminar at CERN in the Main Auditorium yestarday (27092006), and just the theoretical physicists were invited, fortunately I know some of theoretical girls and they let me know about it. And I said fortunately, because although he is going to give a colloquium today, there will be a lot of people, there are six auditoriums assigned in order to everybody could attend, so may be to get a picture today will be a little bit more complicated.

(El Profesor Stephen Hawking dió un seminario técnico en el Auditorio Principal del CERN ayer (27092006), y sólo los físicos teóricos fueron invitados, afortunadamente conozco a unas chicas teóricas, y ellas me dejaron acompañarlas. Y digo afortunada porque a pesar de que hoy va a dar un coloquio, seguro habrá mucha gente, hay seis auditorios asignados para que todos puedan verlo, así que lo de la foto sería un poco más complicado.)

The talk was about the semiclassical birth of the Universe, something that I do not understand clearly, but now I know that I have not yet to be worried about string theory... hehehe.

(La plática fue acerca del comienzo semiclásico del Universo, algo que no entiendo claramente, sin embargo ahora se que no tengo que preocuparme por la teoría de cuerdas todavía, jejeje)



Professor Hawking is the recipient of many awards, medals and prizes and is a Fellow of The Royal Society and a Member of the US National Academy of Sciences. He has worked on the basic laws which govern the universe. With Roger Penrose he showed that Einstein's General Theory of Relativity implied space and time would have a beginning in the Big Bang and an end in black holes :S. Furthermore Stephen Hawking continues to combine family life (he has three children and one grandchild), and his research into theoretical physics together with an extensive programme of travel and public lectures.

(El Profesor Hawking ha recibido muchos reconocimiento, medallas y premios y es un miembro de The Royal Society ("La Sociedad Real" es una academia científica independiente de UK), y es miembro de la US National Academy of Sciences. Él ha trabajado en las leyes básicas que gobiernan el universo. Junto con el profesor Roger Penrose mostró que la Teoría General de la Relatividad de Einstein implica que el espacio y el tiempo tienen que tener un comienzo en el Big Bang y un terminar en agujeros negros :S. Además Stephen Hawking combina su vida familiar (tiene tres hijos y un nieto) con sus investigaciones en física teórica junto con un programa extenso de viajes y conferencias)

How did we reach Torino?, is a long story, hahaha. You can see, Coté's blog and Miloc's blog for details, hahaha. We just arrived to visit Mario and Roberto, they are Miloc's and Coté's friend respectively. They did not have any option, hehe, but to be a very nice hosts.
(¿Cómo llegamos a Torino? Ni idea, yo casi no intervine, jajajaja, pueden ver la historia completa el blog the Coté o en el de Miloc. El chiste es que llegamos como marabunta a la casa de Mario y de Roberto, amigos de Miloc y de Coté respectivamente. Así que no tuvieron más opción que ser super lindos anfitriones.)

Y que tal el helado de Torino, es super rico, el más rico que he probado, de verdad que es super rico... más que el de Tepoznieves, jajaja, bueno esa es nieve no helado, jaja, ¡¡hay que rico!!





What do a group of physicists visit in Torino? Yes, why not? Let's go to the University of Torino!!! And take a picture with Avogadro's bust.

(Y lo impredecible, ¿o no? que puede hacer un grupo de físicos en Torino, sino ir a la Universidad, jajaja, y además tomarse una foto con el busto de Avogadro... ¡¡qué tal!!)
