LHC colisiones a 7 TeV!!!
Hoy ha sido un día extremadamente emocionante, jejeje. La emoción de toda la gente en el cuarto de control de ATLAS no podía más que transmitirse :D.
In a few hours the world will be not the same :D
I am waiting for the firs 7 TeV collisions. Today, unfortunately, I am not on shift, never the less I am a blogger and I am allow to be around, thus I can just wait for collisions in the run coordinator's office that have an amazing view :D. Besides I am not under the pressure of being a shifter, it is just crazy in the control room :s.

LHC is back... El LHC ha vuelto

Ayer tuvimos las primeras "colisiones" a baja energía, fue un día emocionante es la primera vez que los detectores detectan partículas que vienen del punto de colisión. Las colisiones a baja energía fueron resultado de la sincronización de los haces.
Y lo mejor es que ATLAS (uno de los detecores del LHC) esta funcionando :D. A pesar de estar en el momento de las colisiones en el CERN, la emoción se sentía más dentro de los Cuartos de Control en donde se tenía de pirmera mano las imagenes y la información acerca de la respuesta de los subdetectores. Fue un día bastante emocionante y motivador.
Aquí les dejo una de las primeras "colisiones" vistas por ATLAS:

Here one of the first images that were around yesterday after the success of the synchronization of the LHC. It was an exciting moment, people in the control room were excited. There were mostly experts, people that have been working a lot to make the detector to work. The LHC project has more than 10 years of planning and hard work, thus imagine the feeling of all the people around. It was a great day!

Germán Martínez Hidalgo
Si hay alguien que sabía explicar física en Puebla era el Profesor Germán Martínez Hidalgo. Lo conocí en la Sociedad Astronómica de Puebla cuando el era el director del planetario. Era una persona muy activa y entusiasmada con la física. Después, tuve la oportunidad de compartir con el alguna que otra comida, conversaciones sobre múltiples cosas, cultura, ciencia, historia, humor, etc.. El Prof. Germán era una persona muy completa, sabía de todo y siempre tenía un libro en referencia a lo que decía a la mano. Disfrute de las sesiones de astronomía en la sociedad, de sus bromas, de sus cuentos, de su gusto por la música.
Esa ha sido mi experiencia personal con él, y esa experiencia y más la tuvieron muchas otras personas e instituciones que le extrañarán y le recosdarán con cariño. El prof. Germán ha dejado un lugar dificil de llenar, es por eso que se han organizado una serie de actividades en su honor, y es este el motivo del post.
Hoy en día hay muy pocas personas como el Prof. Germán y si no los reconocemos no podemos ver lo grande que podríamos ser siguiendo los pasos de personas que construyen positivamente nuestra sociedad. Espero que los que puedan asistan a los eventos.

TOKYO - A new product on the Japanese market has been designed for the single girl in need of some manly comfort while she sleeps.
The “Boyfriend Arm’s Pillow” is shaped like a giant arm which will hold you all night without the need for the real thing.
The almost life-size boyfriend pillow is the product of the Japanese bed linen maker, Kameo Corp., located in the Japanese city of Fukuoka. The company already sold more than 1,000 pillows since its launch last year. It costs $80 dollars (8,500 yen) and is currently only sold in Japan on the Internet.

Angels & Demons ReVieW
Just a few words about the movie "Angels&Demons"..
As a CERN user I had the chance to get a ticket for the "avant-première", thus I watched the movie on Monday. I really liked the first 5 minutes, where ATLAS appears. ATLAS is not an antimatter machine as they said, but it is a machine aimed to find the particle that gives mass to others. Another issue that is not true is that there are not offices near to the experiment, they are in the ground. In the other hand they do have very nice "software" for the detector monitoring, I think ATLAS most copy some of those animations.
Other thing that I really liked were the places, I love Italy, I love Rome. They have very good quality even if some of them are not real, as the Sixtine Chapel. I really liked the trip trough Rome streets.
The story, I prefer "The Da Vinci Code".

CerN LaND
CeRN LanD is ready for use :D. A interface for children about high energy physics has been developed, it is in french, english and italian, unfortunately not yet in spanish :(.
El CERN ha sacado una serie de video-juegos sobre física (especialemente sobre altar energías :D) para niños en internet, CeRN LanD. Desafortunadamente no esta en español, pero es muy divertido.

LyOn: Fête des Lumières
Every year in Lyon, France there is a festival of lights in Lyon called "Fête des Lumière". There are a lot of plays with light of different styles. The nicest one, at least for me, is the ones that projects different forms over the buildings.
Cada año, en Lyon, Francia, se lleva acabo una fiesta de luces, Y el espectáculo es muy bueno. Me impresiona que proyectan la luz sobre los edificios, y a pesar de que los edificios no tienen una forma uniforma como la de una pantaña, las imágenes no se deforman, es un espectáculo de luz con música.
Different routines are presented, and they last about 10 minutes.
Se presentan rutinas como de 10 minutos, de diferentes estilos.
They have at least 8 different principal points where they performance them, there are 2 churches at least and 2 of the principal squares that are illuminated in this way.
Al menos dos de las plazas principales y dos de las igleasias son iluminadas como esta, la iluminación no es estática, sino que varia la geometría o las figuras al ritmo de un fondo musical.
There are other types of light plays, as this with watter.
También hay otro tipo de exhibiciones como las de estos chorros iluminados.
In this picture we can se the Cathedral St-Jean (near the river La Saone), the Basilica Notre Dame de Fourviere (on top of the hill).
Desde aquí se puede ver la Catedral de San Juan iluminada (abajo) y la Basílica de Notre Dame de Fourviere (en lo alto).

RoDaR CoMo NiNJa
El martes pasado, un cuate ninja nos invitó a una clase de Ninjitsu , y a pesar de que con mi figura rodar es pan comido, hahaha, no pude, pero es que los ninjas exigen demsiado... hahaha, aquí una muestra de lo que no pude hacer, hahaha.
Last Tuesday, a friend, that practices Ninjitsu, invited us to a sample lesson, and the first thing to do was to roll as a ninja! ha!, even when it could be easy for me to roll, hahaha, the ninja style for rolling is quite different from the way I would do it, hehe, thus I could not, hahaha, here a sample of the rolling ninja style.
Last Tuesday, a friend, that practices Ninjitsu, invited us to a sample lesson, and the first thing to do was to roll as a ninja! ha!, even when it could be easy for me to roll, hahaha, the ninja style for rolling is quite different from the way I would do it, hehe, thus I could not, hahaha, here a sample of the rolling ninja style.
